Gunde Jaari Gallanthayyindhe (2013)

The story of ‘Gunde Jaari Gallanthayyindhe’ is simple, but sweet. Karthik (Nithiin) is a fiercely independent youngster, who likes to live life on his terms. He believes in a hands on approach to things. During the wedding party of his friend Pandu (Ali), Karthik comes across Shruthi (Isha Talwar) and instantly falls in love with her. He obtains her phone number through Pandu and starts calling her on a regular basis.

But as fate would have it, Karthik gets the wrong number and he actually keeps calling Shravani (Nithya Menen), instead of Shruthi. Shravani is a very rich young girl, who fantasizes about falling in love with an anonymous lover. She wants someone who loves her for what she is, without caring about her beauty or her wealth. Karthik meets all her requirements and it is a dream come true for her.

A breezy romance starts over the phone. Karthik and Shravani fall in love with each other for completely different reasons. But the happiness is short lived and the story takes a twist when both parties come to know about the mix up.

What happens next? Who will Karthik end up with? Watch the film to know the rest.

Jagdish (Vijay), a captain in the Indian Army, returns to Mumbai from Kashmir. On his arrival, his parents and younger sisters force him to see Nisha (Kajal Aggarwal), who they chose for him to be married to. At the bride-viewing ceremony, Jagdish makes up excuses to avoid marrying her, which includes commenting about her being old-fashioned. On the contrary, Nisha is a college-level boxer, who is completely modern in her outlook. Jagdish realises this and falls for her, which she reciprocates.

One day, while meeting with his police officer-friend Balaji (Sathyan), Jagdish witnesses the explosion of a bus in which they had travelled. He captures the man, who planted the bomb in that bus, and soon finds out that he is a mere executor, a sleeper cell, whose only role was to plant the bomb. He also discovers that the Islamic terrorist group Harkat-ul-Jihad al-Islami, which the bomber belongs to, has planned various such attacks in the city in a couple of days. Enlisting the help of his fellow Army men and Balaji, Jagdish manages to thwart these attacks and kill twelve terrorists.
Rest of the story is how Jagdish manages to chase down the other terrorists, and save the whole city from huge devastation.

Dandupalyam Police (2013)

It's the story of the season: gang-war, in which the don of the area (Ponnambalam) rules the roost, gunning and knifing men according to the moolah he receives. Bang in the middle arrives another gang which cleanly robs him of the money and flattens him in the process. Turns out that the gang in question is headed by ruffian Vinodh aka Koni (newcomer Mahesh Raja) and is hunted hotfoot by the police (Kishore).

Koni is the despair of his long-suffering mother Saraswathi (Saranya) who slaves away through sickness and ill-health for her son's happiness; not that this has any effect on him. And just when you think Koni is just another toughie who sits on cemetery walls, comes another surprise; he's in cahoots with the very same police officer who's supposed to be hunting him.

In the midst of all this are numerous titillating episodes which have nothing very much to do with the story, save one purpose: introduce Nivedha (Udhayathara), with whom Koni falls in love. The sequences where he first eyes her, and approaches her in a brash fashion are genuinely funny.
